What happened
Google introduced AMIE, a research medical AI system. The system ran real-time clinical video consultations in simulated environments. The project evaluates how AI handles live medical interactions.
The context
Most medical AI tools process written notes or static diagnostic images. Testing live video requires processing audio and visual information at the same time during a mock consultation. Google developed this strictly as a research system.
